Manchester United will only bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to Old Trafford if the price is right.
While United have been forced to pay inflated fees this summer to strengthen manager Louis van Gaal’s squad, they will not be taking up the chance to land Ronaldo from Real Madrid unless the sums add up.
Madrid are ready to sell – but they want to recoup £60million of the £80m they paid Madrid for the Portuguese ace in 2009, while Ronaldo will want the Old Trafford giants to also match the £380,000-a-week wages he earns at the Bernabeu.
Fans plea with plane banner
A Manchester United supporters' group desperate for Cristiano Ronaldo to return to Old Trafford have flown a banner over Villarreal's El Madrigal stadium as he starred for Real Madrid.
The banner, flown by a light aircraft, read "COME HOME RONALDO - UNITED REEL."
United Reel, a Red Devils fans group which has members from all over the world, called for donations to make the fly-by possible, which occurred just 15 minutes into the La Liga fixture between Villarreal and Real Madrid on Saturday afternoon.
